A FISH and chips shop has reopened under new management after a couple take on the business.

The Haddock Paddock in Sedbergh welcomed its new owners, Kerry Henderson and Mark Taverner, who officially opened the doors on Tuesday, December 30.

The pair, from Wigton, said they were 'excited' for the journey as it is the first time they venture into owning a business.

Kerry said: "It is going really well. We now have some staff who are helping us to do even better. The locals have been so lovely and welcoming.

"We wanted different locations and we thought Sedbergh was a lovely place to bring up our kids and move there and the chip shop was available - it is a lovely place to live."

Kerry said she felt a sense of responsibility to take over the place as the previous owners had been in business for 13 years. She explained they want to make sure the standards are still high and that the food is 'lovely.'

Kerry said: "My partner wants to start doing takeaway lunches on Sunday. We also want to bring more chicken products to the menu. They were just selling cod, so my partner decided he was going to put cod and haddock on the menu. We want to bring kids' boxes for the little children back."

On December 20, the former owners used Facebook to thank their customers for their support over the years.

The post said: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank this fabulous community for all your loyalty and support over the years.

"We also would like to thank our amazing family and friends who have been there for us through thick and thin

"And finally a huge thanks and tribute to our young staff, past and present. The success of the Haddock Paddock, they have played a big part in. Most of all we will miss the singing and laughs we’ve had along the way."

The Haddock Paddock is open daily from 11.30am to 1.30pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
