There's plenty to do in Cumbria over the upcoming February half-term - especially without a car.

Laura Earl, a Cumbrian mum and founder of The Hiking Household, has shared seven family-friendly activities you might consider.

She said: "There are many wonderful family friendly activities happening in our region and they're all accessible by hopping on a Stagecoach bus."

First on the list is Morgan & West's Massive Magic Show at the Brewery Arts in Kendal.

It takes place on February 16 at 1pm and 4pm, with multiple services taking you to Kendal Bus Station - a 10-minute walk from the venue.

The two family shows are perfect for school age children, with plenty of magic and illusions on display.

While you're in Keswick, Ms Earl also recommends the family friendly walk on Friars Crag, as well as the children's play area at Fitz Park.

Number three on the list of things to do in Cumbria is the Circus Spectacular at The Forum in Barrow.

Another potential activity to add to your diaries is swimming at The Sands Centre in Carlisle.

It is a great form of exercise and an activity that all the family can enjoy, with Family Fun Swim sessions on Saturdays and Sundays.

While you're there, you could also opt to hire the sports hall to play a family game of badminton.

While just a short seven minute walk from Carlisle Bus Station is the town's Historic Quarter.

Tullie remains closed for refurbishment until later in the summer, but families can still enjoy every second at Carlisle Cathedral.

It is free to visit and you could even take advantage of the children's trail to discover more about the historic Cathedral.

Just because school is out in Cumbria, does not mean education needs to stop as a visit to Workington Library is highly recommended.

Not only is it just a minute's walk from Workington Bus Station,, but you will find an array of free events from February 13-16.

Activities include songs, crafts, poem writing, robots and other interactive activities.

Last but not least, with spring creeping ever closer, Ms Earl recommends just stepping outside and enjoying nature.

Head out on a spring walk, such as the Engine Lonning in Carlisle, Lightburn Park in South Cumbria, or even jump on a set of wheels and enjoy a cycle path.

There's always plenty to do in Cumbria - and it has not always got to break the bank either.
