Internationally known and Salisbury-based artist Chess is revealing her latest work exclusively at a family-run gallery in Windermere Fine Art.

The collection will stay on display for a two-week period before its nationwide release.

Chess said: "Nature has always been a huge influence on my work, whether that’s by helping me choose colours and subjects or guiding my selection of printed materials.

"So, being able to release my nature-centric "Habitat Collection" in one of the UK’s most beautiful natural areas, the Lake District, feels really special.

"The collection is all about celebrating the influence that the natural world has on our day-to-day lives, from fashion and interior decorating to questions of climate change and preservation."

Featuring animal and wildlife themes, the collection utilises magazine and newspaper cuttings to create collages.

Painted over with ink much like print newspapers, the pieces offer a unique style.

The Salisbury-based artist Chess has a propensity for marrying her love for reading, writing, and art.

This fusion is embodied in her new Habitat Collection and provides an additional dimension to the masterpieces through the inclusion of selected text and layers of colour.

The collection will be launched on February 9.

The gallery is located at 25 Crescent Road, Windermere, and is open Monday to Saturday at 10.30am to 5.30pm, and by appointment only on Sundays.
