The best places for sticky toffee pudding and Cumberland sausages in Cumbria have been revealed.

Cartmel Village Shop, and The Kingfisher, a traditional chippy in Keswick, have clinched top spots respectively based on data from Windermere Marina Village's analysis of TripAdvisor reviews.

According to the analysis, which ranked Lake District restaurants based on ‘excellent’ ratings, mentions of regional dishes and overall popularity, Cartmel Village Shop scored an impressive 4.68 for its sticky toffee pudding.

66 per cent of its reviews praised the "beloved and world-famous" dessert that only costs £2.

Coming in second place was Lewis’s Bistro in Grasmere, scoring 3.24.

Francine’s, a continental-style coffee house and restaurant in Windermere, secured third place with a score of 3.1.

Meanwhile, The Kingfisher sat at the top of the Cumberland Sausages list, with a score of 4.96.

Nearly 70 per cent of its reviews on TripAdvisor were rated ‘excellent’. The Apple Pie Cafe, a quaint bakery house in Ambleside, took second place with a score of 4.07.

Greens Cafe & Bistro in Grasmere clinched third place with a score of 3.92.

Dan Fairweather, general manager at Windermere Marina Village, highlighted the importance of popular spots like these, saying: "As we approach the Easter break, there's no better way to indulge in the essence of the Lake District than by exploring its culinary gems.

"With fresh menus, and world famous regional dishes like those mentioned, it's the perfect time to visit."

He also suggested people planning a trip to the Lake District should plan well in advance: "The Lake District is a popular destination for family getaways, especially during Spring - so securing a comfortable base of accommodation is key to reach all the places on your list."
