The face of a ‘predator’ jailed for historic sex offences in Dalton

Harold Wharton was convicted after a trial of six counts of indecent assault on an underage girl in the 1980s. 

Sentencing Wharton to ten years imprisonment, His Honour Judge Darren Preston said: “You are a predator. A wicked individual who preys on children for your own perverted sexual desires.

Dad jailed for humiliating and manipulating behaviour to ex-girlfriend

A DAD has been jailed for 'humiliating and manipulating' his ex-partner.

Michael Royston, 29, accused his ex-girlfriend of cheating, controlled who she could see, what she could wear and when she could wash over a period of 1,000 days, a court heard.

Norfolk man breaches sexual harm order after moving to Barrow

A MAN from Norfolk breached his sexual harm prevention order less than two weeks after moving to Barrow

57-year-old Paul Ward, of Church Street, will spend six months behind bars.

Barrow woman jailed for assaulting security guard in Tesco

BARROW woman has been jailed for assaulting a security guard after he accused her of stealing a bottle of cider.

Debbie Paisley, of Cook Street, admitted charges of assault by beating, attempted theft from a shop and possessing a quantity of cocaine.

Thief jailed for stealing alcohol and food from Barrow supermarkets

A THIEF has been jailed for stealing alcohol and food items from a number of different supermarkets in Barrow.

Darren Hughes, 50, of Newton Road in Dalton pleaded guilty to five counts of theft from a shop at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on March 18.

Man jailed after being caught in possession of cannabis in Windermere

A MAN has been jailed after being caught in possession of a Class B drug.

James Weaver was found to have in his possession a quantity of cannabis in Windermere on September 29 last year.

Man jailed for attacking girlfriend in Lake District hotel

A WOMAN thought she would die while being attacked and strangled by her then partner as a birthday trip to the Lakes ended in shocking violence, a court heard.

A relationship between Tyler Shepherd and the woman began early last year but had 'gone badly'.
