A Cumbria climate charity is initiating an appeal to spotlight the impact of global warming on the county's youth.

Cumbria Action for Sustainability's (CAfS) Fight for Our Future campaign aims to raise £20,000 as part of the initiative.

Supporting this, the Big Give’s Green Match Fund will double donations between April 18 to 25.

Recent studies show that climate change disproportionately impacts the young, with one study from The Lancet in 2021 revealing that around 70 percent of people aged 16 to 25 are extremely worried or very worried about the climate.

CAfS is tackling these concerns through schemes focused on home energy efficiency, community engagement and renewable energy projects, among others.

Karen Mitchell, chief executive officer of CAfS, said: "Climate change poses significant threats to the health and well-being of young people, and it’s imperative that we take action now to prevent this.

"Through our ‘Fight for our Future campaign,’ you will be supporting projects that are reducing our reliance on polluting fossil fuels and improving the quality of life for everyone."
