THE ST Leger at Doncaster today (Saturday) looks a terrific race and Aidan O'Brien's Honolulu is the likely favourite, given that Johnny Murtagh rides this one out of four raiders from the top Irish yard.

Purple Moon deprived Honolulu of victory in the Ebor Handicap at York, but the key race could be the Voltigeur in which stable companion Marcarthur was third to Locarno.

LOCARNO won that classy mile and a half test impressively after coming up to the last 200 yards on the bridle and, if he stays this extra half mile, will be hard to beat.

He is not guaranteed to do that on pedigree, but his manner of racing suggests he can do the job.

TADJEFF has been kept under wraps by Barry Hills for the Champagne Stakes and expect an exciting performance - he;ll need one to take the scalp of River Proud.

Don't desert GOLDEN DIXIE after a poor run last time. The Portland Handicap is a top handicap and expect to see him go close at a better price than if he had put his best foot forward last week.
