FOUR Kendal women have walked 100km around the Yorkshire Dales to raise money for charity.
Suzanne Dowker, Laura Ruxton, Steph Pearson and Fay Davies, aimed to finish the route - which took in Malham Cove, Malham Tarn, Fountains Fell and Pen-y-ghent - in less than 24 hours. However, due to the tough conditions, such as searing heat, injury and illness, a depleted team of three made it around in 28 hours and 43 minutes.
Miss Dowker, 28, a sales assistant for the Lakes Energy Centre, said: “We all found it harder than we expected but the three of us who made it to the end were proud to have completed it.
“I ejoyed the whole event, particularly the cameraderie between the teams. Everyone was helping each other through.”
The team, named Caminata, are aiming to raise £1,500 for Oxfam and are still accepting donations on their website www.justgiving.com/caminata
