THOUSANDS of women in South Lakeland are being urged to make one last dash for cash in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The charity is asking everyone who took part in this year’s Race for Life to take that final step by returning their sponsorship money.

The event, which took place on June 21 at the Westmorland County Showground in Crooklands, near Kendal, is expected to raise around £65,000.

“We are really grateful to the women of Westmorland who helped make Race for Life such a huge success,” said Annette Quarry, Race for Life event manager for Kendal.

“By taking part in Race for Life, Westmorland women pledged their support to help fund research into a disease that one-in-three people in the UK will develop at some stage in their lives.

"Now we are asking them to keep that promise and help Cancer Research UK continue its life-saving work by returning their sponsorship money as soon as possible.”
