A 16-year-old has been charged with manslaughter and violent disorder after a former University of Cumbria student died while on a night out with friends in Blackburn.
Adam Rogers, 24, suffered a fatal head injury during an incident near Blackburn’s Gladstone memorial in the early hours of Sunday.
The teenager, from Rishton, was remanded in custody along with two 19-year-olds, also from Rishton, who were charged with violent disorder from seperate assaults arising out of the same incident.
The dead man’s parents, David and Patricia Rogers, of Dukes Brow, Blackburn, flew back from holiday in Malta to be at his bedside at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, where he was placed on a life-support machine.
Tests, however, showed no brain activity and the family made the decision to switch the machine off at 2.30pm.
Lancashire Police have appealed for witnesses.
