AN excellent turnout of sheep in each class ensured an annual club show was a success.

The North West Suffolk Breeders Club held the event at North West Auctions, Lancaster, and after some tough competition, the Championship went to Keith Denby’s Carnforth flock, from Longtown, which produced a show topping ram lamb sired by Westcarse Premier and out of a homebred Carnforth ewe.

Judge David Inman, who travelled up from Leicestershire, awarded Reserve Championship to new member Andrea Neales shearling ewe from her Howeton Flock, which had been bought from Cookstead as a lamb and was sired by Birness Bondi.

Mr Inman said how impressed he had been by the female sheep particularly, and, also, in awarding six year old Rex Riley the Young Shepherds Cup, said what a pleasure it was to see such active involvement from our young members.
