A KIND-HEARTED Kendalian raised more than £1,000 for cancer charities by swapping birthday presents for donations.
Catherine Hine of Garden Road decided to turn her 40th birthday celebrations into a fundraising extravaganza in memory of a lost loved one.
“A great night was had by all and we raised some money for a cause that touches so many people,” said Mrs Hine, who split the donations between CancerCare and St John’s Hospice in Lancaster. “I dedicated the donations in memory of my sister, Agnes, who lost her battle with cancer six years ago.”
The event was held at Park Night Club on Parkside Road and Mrs Hine expressed her thanks to everyone who attended.
