A KEY service that helps rural businesses navigate complex planning regulations is set to continue in Cumbria.

The Northwest Regional Development Agency has announced it is to continue with its Rural Planning Facilitation Service in the county - committing £120,000 to the scheme.

The service, which has operated since 2002, has helped more than 1,200 Cumbrian businesses with planning proposals. It puts businesses in touch with local planning experts who go through the strengths and pitfalls of ideas.

David Hunter, Head of Rural Development at the NWDA, said, “The Rural Planning Facilitation Service has proven itself to be a useful tool and I am pleased we can offer further funding support.

“This is an award-winning service which has helped thousands of businesses across the region and it complements our aim of securing a thriving rural economy in the Northwest.”
