FILMMAKERS, actors, models and musicians from Barrow have been busy this month to produce a DVD showing youngsters the dangers of drinking too much alcohol.

Barrow and South Lakes Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRP) commissioned local film company Workshop Productions for the project, which is aimed at secondary school pupils.

It will be launched on August 4 and will be available free via the internet and social networking sites for young people, while a DVD will be available for use in a number of settings involving young people.

The film was made in town with local band The Relics providing the soundtrack.

A spokesman for the CDRP said: “We hope as many young people as possible will see the finished film and, as it will be littered with local faces and places, we hope they can feel an affinity with the characters and scenarios portrayed.

"The aim is to ensure today’s young teenagers do not grow up thinking it is socially acceptable to drink alcohol to excess."
