A TOURIST information centre that has been refurbished as part of a £150,000 national park scheme has been reopened to the public.
The TIC at Bowness is now offering vital information to visitors to the Lake District following a revamp that has used locally-sourced materials and will play a part in promoting sustainable tourism.
The Bowness office is one of three Lake District National Park Authority information centres enjoying a revamp, as well as Ulswater and Keswick. The scheme has benefited from a funding contribution of £60,000 from the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
Nick Brooks-Sykes, the NWDA’s director of tourism, said: “Bowness Bay and Ulswater are amongst the most visited information centres in the region and this investment will ensure that they continue to provide an excellent visitor experience and signposting service.”
