SIX people have been arrested following a fatal accident on the A591 early this morning.
The road was closed after a red Jaguar left the road at about 12.20am.
A man was pronounced dead at the scene at around 1am. Police are working to identify him.
Six people have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and are helping police with their enquiries.
The circumstances of the incident are not clear at this stage, and police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who saw a red Jaguar in the area before the collision to call them on 0845 33 00 247.
The A591 remains closed both ways between Holbeck Lane and Bridge Lane at Troutbeck Bridge.
A diversion is in place via Holbeck Lane and Bridge Lane.
