MOTORCYCLING: David Knight, who races for Kendal-based KTM D3-Racing, claimed his first World Enduro Championship class win in the French round of the WEC series, at St Remy Sur Durolle. Knight's win came despite having to recover from a slipped chain.

Third in the competitive E3 class on day one, David proved master of the conditions on day two to triumph over adversity to claim victory ahead of Finns Mika Ahola and Samuli Aro. Knight is now third in the E3 championship, 11 points off the lead.

The French event was hard - especially as all competitors rode for over eight hours each day. On day one, Knight was one of four riders that could have claimed victory from the factory KTM riders, but he was caught in a downpour as he entered the final test of the day. Despite being disadvantaged by slippery conditions Knight claimed the third podium position. On day two Knight built up a comfortable lead, but then unshipped his chain. After disentangling it from around his front sprocket he fought back over the day's remaining test to claim victory.
