VALENTINE'S Day brought one couple closer together as they were reunited with a wedding ring lost during a visit to Coniston.
Richard and Liz Allen, of Sheffield, spent New Year in the village celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary but during a walk in the snow in the Coppermines Valley, Mr Allen lost his gold wedding ring.
The pair failed to find the band before they left but asked the Coppermines and Lakes Cottages to put up posters and, as the 75cm of snow melted, the ring was found and collected by the happy couple on Valentine's Day.
Philip Johnston, managing director of Coppermines, said: “We have run snow ploughs and gritters up and down the valley road through the winter and finding the ring really would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.”
