CHAIRMAN John Wilson welcomed speaker Mark Rand and members to the Ewecross Historical Society meeting in the town hall for an illustrated talk on the Settle Carlise Railway.
Mr Rand, who is chairman of the Friends of the line, spoke about the history of the line through to the present day and showed slides that ranged from aerial and early photographs to present day stations and signal boxes.
Andrew Birley will speak on Vindolanda at the March meeting.
