STOREYS crashed to their first defeat of the season as the North Lancashire And District Football League witnessed the shock of the campaign to date.

The early pace setters were beaten 3-0 by Kirkby Lonsdale after failing to take their chances but they still hold top spot, although CCM Dynamos are hot on their heels after their 5-2 win over Westgate Wanderers.

That success was based largely on Darren True and Simon Marshall, who both scored twice to set up the win.

Torrisholme are third despite playing out a dour 0-0 draw with fellow promoted side City Contract Services, while Slyne-with-Hest are fourth after their 2-1 win over the third promoted side Highgrove.

Marsh United are now in fifth spot and the Marsh machine now appears to be well oiled as they beat Morecambe Royals 3-0. Kevin Coulton and Neil Marshall were joined on the scoresheet by Jimmy Love, who converted a penalty.

Extra time was needed in the Holden's Solicitors/Gibson Cup as Cartmel Reserves and Galgate thrilled in an excellent match.

The game was finally settled 60 seconds from penalties when Cartmel player-manager David Barker sealed a 3-2 success.

In Division One, Vine and Community Sports drew 3-3, while Grange beat Arnside 1-0 and the division's other game saw goals from Chris Hobbs and Sean Lewis seal a 2-1 win for Storey's Reserves over Caton United.

Carnforth Rangers continue to enjoy life in Division Two and are really in the mix at the top after a stunning 4-0 win over leaders Bolton-le-Sands.

The Third Division champions are now second thanks to a hat-trick from Geoff Crossley and Gavin Darby's effort.

Westgate Rangers hammered Allithwaite Rangers 5-1, while Morecambe Hoops went ballistic against Arnside Reserves. The 13-0 win was a stunner as David Riley scored six, with Paul Dewhirst hitting the net four times.

Mark Fisher and Gary Wright also found the net as did an unfortunate Arnside defender to complete the baker's dozen rout.

Lee Brooks scored twice and Stuart Smith grabbed the other as Freehold beat Torrisholme Reserves 3-1, while Caton United Reserves beat Kirkby Lonsdale Rangers 4-2.

Allithwaite Reserves needed penalties to move into the second round of the Parkinson/Collegian Cup after their game with Boys Club Reserves was tied 3-3 after extra-time.

But Central Pier found life much easier against Grange Reserves as they coasted to a 12-3 success. Joe Daley scored four for Pier with Steve Love, Brendan Earle and Craig McKenzie all bagging braces.

Rob Scarr and Alan Powell scored the others.

Dave Brown scored twice for Moorlands but they still went down 3-2 to Highgrove Reserves thanks to a brace from Khan Yarwood and a Peter Myerscough effort.

Poulton United stay on top of Division Three and Bowerham are at the top of the Fourth.
