AN AFTER school kids club run by Lancaster City Council has uncovered an award-winning helper.
Mike Ellis has won a Lancashire Sports Award for his dedication to coaching young people after school at Morecambe Bay Primary.
Ambulance technician Mike has been teaching a variety of sports and games including netball, football, kwik cricket and kick ball for an hour-and-a-half each week since completing a community sports leaders award.
And his hard work and commitment has been recognised by a nomination to receive a special recognition' prize for Lancaster from the county council's sports awards scheme.
He says: "I was delighted when I heard I'd won. Having the opportunity to work with children and promote a healthier lifestyle for youngsters through sport is rewarding and great fun in itself. To be recognised for my efforts has to be the icing on the cake."
