A PRESTIGIOUS London exhibition has featured three large pieces by one of the county's most acclaimed wildlife artists.
The Annual Exhibition of the Society of Wildlife Artists has displayed the works of Sizergh-based Fiona Clucas as part of the event at the Mall Galleries near Trafalgar Square.
A panel of selectors from the society chose the pieces from a number submitted by Mrs Clucas - one of Kendal's Green Door Studios artists to put her in contention for one of three cash prizes given to recognise the most distinctive, exciting and creative works in the show. Paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures will all be included in the exhibition that aims to explore the entire spectrum of wildlife art.
Inspiration for Mrs Clucas' three pieces; Garden Sentinel, Summers Buzz and a black and white graphite drawing of a blackbird feeding in winter, was all drawn from South Lakeland.
"I'm really pleased that the three chosen by the panel are all local subjects. The countryside, wildlife and more recently birds have always been my inspiration and interest," she said.
"I still get a buzz from having my work on display locally, but I would like it to be shown further afield, so it's more about having it included in the exhibition and on show in London than winning the prize."
Fiona Clucas is also set to enjoy a solo exhibition entitled A Celebration of Birds at the Pinfold Gallery in Bowness, which opens on Dec 2.
