Our special guest for the evening, Katherine Beacon is Project Manager for BBC northern exposure. This is part of the writersroom, a pioneering unit within the BBC which actively seeks and develops writing talent for all BBC platforms, TV, film and radio. northern exposure is the writersroom's special project in the North, working with key theatres to develop their new writing programmes, running screenings, Q&As and workshops, and supporting and nurturing talented writers. Previously Katherine was a Producer/Director in BBC Radio Drama.

What's Word Party 4 all about?

A great evening of entertainment to celebrate and raise funds for Word Market, South Cumbria's Writers' and Readers' Project.

Including the launch of the new Training and Professional Development Programme funded by The European Social Fund and Cumbria Learning and Skills Council, readings with special guest South Cumbria Poet Laureate 2005 Jennifer Copley, party games, chain poems, Word Bingo, raffle (top prize £50 book voucher), socialising, music from Steve Wharton and Ann Wilson, cake, book stall and lots, lots more....all brought to you by failed Bohemian poet Selene de la Verr, aka writer Mollie Baxter who won the inaugural E-Short Story Competition.

What are we raising money for?

Following an outstandingly successful three years, Word Market has now completed Year One of an exciting new three year programme of activities and training for individual writers, writing and reading groups and community organisations in south Cumbria and beyond.
