MOZART'S classic Requiem, one of the finest choral pieces ever composed, comes to what could be its natural stage next week.
The Cologne New Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra (above), conducted by Volker Hartung, bring Requiem to life at Lancaster Cathedral next Thursday (October 20).
The Cologne New Philharmonic has enchanted countless audiences with the piece since 1972, aiming to inspire people who may not have been in contact with classical music before.
In essence a chamber orchestra comprising of soloists, which expands several times each year to a full symphony orchestra, it is one of the few German groups to operate without subsidy.
Tickets and further information are available from Lancaster Tourist Information Centre, Castle Hill, or by calling 01524-32878.
Tickets will also be available from the cathedral one hour before the concert, which starts at 7.30pm.
