SOME of the finest young musicians in the country take to a local stage next week as part of the Lancaster International Concert Series.

The world renowned Chethams Symphony Orchestra play Lancaster University's Great Hall on Thursday (October 20), bringing to life Elgar's Overture: Cockaigne, Prokofiev's Piano Concerto and Brahms' Symphony No Four.

Conducted by Garry Walker with Chi Yan Wong on piano, this is an eagerly awaited visit to Lancaster.

Chet's student Chi Yan Wong tackles the brilliant Piano Concerto with which the 20 year-old Prokofiev created a notorious scandal when in a competition at the St Petersburg Conservatoire.

Tickets cost between £9 and £17 and further details are available from 0800-0283042.
