Jamie Heard has played his last game for Morecambe after what is believed to be a breach of club discipline.
The 22-year-old Sheffield-born defender has been absent from the Morecambe team since being substituted during the 0-0 draw with Tamworth on September 3.
The Citizen understands the Professional Footballers' Association negotiated Heard's immediate release from Christie Park.
A statement released by the Shrimps said: "Morecambe Football Club have announced that defender Jamie Heard's contract has been cancelled after mutual agreement between the club and the player.
"There will be no further comment from the club regarding this statement."
