MORECAMBE must win in the West Midlands if they want to hit the FA Cup first round proper but the manager of Broms-grove Rovers is promising them a tough afternoon on Saturday week.

Monday's draw for the final qualifying round paired the Shrimps with Rovers of the Southern Division One West and their boss Jimmy Mullen is primed for an upset.

It is a test for the Shrimps with their away form not the best as Saturday's 1-0 loss at Kidderminster Har-riers near neighbours of Bromsgrove proved.

Morecambe have scored just five goals on their travels this season and four of those arrived in the thumping win at Burton Albion.

But Mullen, who would love another big day on the big stage, is keen to play down that record, admitting Morecambe are a good team.

The Jarrow-born former Burnley boss who is still the only Turf Moor chief to win two promotions is wise enough to realise that Morecambe will enter the game as favourites despite their current away form.

"Morecambe are one of the top clubs in the Conference; they are always there or there-abouts and Jim Harvey is an excellent manager," says Mullen, who also managed Blackpool.

"It doesn't matter a jot about their so-called dodgy away form. They are three divisions above us in the football pyramid and are full time and a top class team they are red hot favourites.

"But that is not to say they will have it easy. I can promise them they will have to work their socks off when they come here.

"And as well as the monetary aspect, knocking out a team from a higher division and getting into the FA Cup proper would be tremendous for my players.

"Then again, Morecambe will be thinking the same thing because no matter what some so-called experts may say, the FA Cup is still magical."

Bromsgrove suffered a fall from grace after finishing as Conference runners-up in 1992/93 and winning the League Cup in 1994-95 and 1995-96.

And Lancaster City can give their neighbours advice on how to see off Bromsgrove. The Dolly Blues edged out Rovers 1-0 at Giant Axe in the FA Trophy second round in December last year.
