Bowdon 0 Vale of Lune 36

MAGNIFICENT Vale of Lune made it five wins on the spin as they lorded it up on their first ever visit to Bowdon.

The locals starred in Cheshire as they celebrated their first lock-out' since the 2003/04 season.

Vale were upbeat from the start and ran in five tries, four of which were converted by the classy boot of Andy Garnett.

And the win took the Vale tally to 96 points in two games as they established themselves in third place in North West Two.

Despite the wet conditions, Vale played a high tempo game with both forwards and backs freely moving the ball around.

But once again the pack provided the cornerstone for Lune's fourth league win of the season.

Ian Bird opened the scoring with a try following a strong Gavin McHugh run on 12 minutes.

The locals had to wait a while for the next score as the pack forced Bowdon over their own line allowing Malcolm Fowler to dive in.

Vale started the second period as they finished the first with attractive rugby as Jame Bryan plunged in following a smart Neil Bennetts kick before Simon Baines wrestled his way over the whitewash.

And then Kevin Gardner motored over to complete the scoring.

The win puts Vale in the perfect frame of mind for Saturday's tough Powergen Intermediate Cup tie with North One outfit Caldy at Powder House Lane.
