MUSIC coach Beth Helsby is staging a showcase concert for students of the Yamaha method of learning.
The show is part of an open day tomorrow (Saturday, November 26, 1pm-3pm) held by Beth at Kendal College's Creative Arts Centre on Beezon Road, when she will introduce her junior music course for youngsters aged between four and five, offering the opportunity for budding players to try out a Yamaha keyboard.
Beth explains that Professor Eiza Itoh, a Japanese musicologist, who had been influenced by Orff and Kodaly, developed the Yamaha method shortly after the Second World War. He created a system, based on hearing and copying sound, to teach music to children from the age of four.
