KENDAL Judo Club juniors won 11 medals at the Burnley Age-Banded Open Champion-ships - a Golden Jubilee event.

Steven Rogan outclassed his opponents for the gold medal in the Under 20 -60 kilo section.

At the same age band his brother Philip was narrowly denied the gold at -66 kilos and had to settle for silver.

Chris Miller rose to the challenge at -50 kilos in the 1987/8 age band, beating a long-standing adversary to secure another gold.

Representing the girls, Laura Hogg competed in the new weight group of -48 kilos and dominated her opponents, beating a Great Britain squad member in the semi-final to secure a place in the final and a gold medal.

In outstanding form, Calum Hartley had no scores against him at -55 kilos and, using a variety of throws, he recorded five straight wins to take the gold medal.

Team-mate Lian Wilson made short work of the opposition at +55 kilos and made short work of the opposition for another gold.

Pitted against the triple National winner and squad member Jean Rene Beiddrick, James Wright remained focussed at -50 kilos to be rewarded with the bronze.

In the 1991/2 age band, there was silver for Matthew Wright, competing for the first time at -42 kilos, while Thomas Watson collected bronze in the same section.

Aaron Asplin and Sami Sedek took gold and silver respectively in the -38 kilo, 93/94 category.
