EMBASSY World Eight-Ball Champion Chris Melling comes to Kendal on Monday, May 6 as part of the 2002 Embassy World Pool Roadshow's 30-night tour.

The Kendal Arms on Milnthorpe Road, hosts the roadshow and the Westmorland Gazette, in conjunction with Embassy, is offering readers a chance to win a chance to play the champion and receive a special world-class cue as a prize.

Peradon, one of the world's top cue manufacturers, makes the world-championship pool cue of selected ash and rosewood.

It comes with a soft black cue case and shoulder strap, and will be signed by Melling on the night.

All you have to do is answer the following question: Whom did Chris Melling beat in the Embassy World final to win his title last year?

Send you answers on a postcard marked 'Embassy' to the Sports Desk, 22 Stricklandgate, Kendal, Cumbria, LA9 4NE to arrive no later than first post Wednesday, May 1.

Usual Gazette competition rules apply and the Sports Editor's decision is final.

Melling, aged 23, from Keighley, is a star attraction.

In addition to being Embassy world title-holder, he is also the UK trick shot champion and the UK Speed Ball titleholder, clearing the table in just 39 seconds.

Nicknamed the Magician, he conjured up a superb display to beat Welshman Rob McKenna 10-9 in last year's Embassy final in Blackpool, battling back from 3-0 down in a pulsating final to win the sport's most important title.

He is also a top-quality snooker player, having qualifier for this year's professional tour.

At each Embassy World Pool Roadshow, Melling performs a series of superb trickshots and then takes on allcomers in a non-stop night of great pool action, with prizes given away on the night.
