IDEAS of how Lakes residents want their towns to be revitalised will be unveiled at a public meeting this weekend.

The results of several weeks of public consultation asking residents of Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness how they would like to see their communities developed and enhanced will be made public for the first time at an open day at Brockhole visitor centre, Windermere, this Saturday, from 11am-4pm.

The aim of the event is for the Lakes Market Town Partnership to report back what people have said they want to see achieved as a result of the Market Towns Initiative, and to check this is a correct reflection of what the community wants.

Jon Rigby, of Greengage Consulting, which has carried out the consultation on behalf of the partnership, said: "It's basically a chance for the partnership to say this is what we have been told people want to see happen, and this is what we are going to do about it - is this right?"

Suggestions expressed during the consultation will be displayed at the centre and at 2pm there will be a question and answer session with members of the partnership.

As a result of the discussion, a detailed action plan will be drawn up, due to be published on June 15, outlining projects and schemes for which funding will be sought.

A management group will then be set up, a regeneration officer appointed and working groups set up to drive the project forward.

Mr Rigby said the visioning event was a further chance for people to influence the initiative.

Also taking place at Brockhole as part of the event 11am-4pm will be a puppet show at 12noon and 3.15pm, face painting, exhibitions, displays and workshops.

There will also be a competition to design a feature for Brockhole's adventure playground.
