KENDAL'S traffic torment eased slightly this week as The Westmorland Gazette's Park at Your Peril campaign started to bite.
Motorists appeared to have been on their best behaviour although there were still some ignoring the traffic regulations including one couple from Southern Ireland who left their camper van on a yellow line on Stricklandgate for six hours!
The hotline - 01539-710161 - went quiet and when our reporters hit the streets to find those flouting the law there were hardly any to be found.
Nevertheless, there were still snarl-ups but there appeared to be more occasions when vehicles were travelling freely.
