A CHARITY 'Its A Knockout' competition has been cancelled this weekend due to the fuel shortage.

Marie Curie CancerCare had planned to run the event on Sunday, September 17, at Glaxo Sports Club, Ulverston.

The event has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 8.

Event organiser Bernadette McIntosh apologised to participants but added that four team spaces were still available for anyone interested in a fun day out in aid of a good cause.

Vintage bus rides through Barrow town centre, planned for Saturday and Sunday as part of Barrow Borough Council's series of Heritage Open Days, have been cancelled.

"I consider it more important that any fuel reaching the town should be available for small businesses and essential workers," said town centre manager Ann Taylforth.
