A SOLITARY Sue Conway goal sealed the spoils for Ambleside over Lancaster in the final of the Netherwood League tournament at Ulverston on Sunday.
Led by Laura Morris, Ambleside produced some final displays on the way to the final.
But they struggled to net the all-important goals and fought out scoreless draws with Wigton, Glaxo and Lancaster.
It meant they had to beat Kendal in the final group match to qualify for the semi-final and Janet Faulkner found the target to put them through.
Ambleside overcame kirkby Stephen 2-0 in the semi-finals with goals from Sue Conway and Laura Gibson, and it was conway who made the vital strike in the final against Lancaster to finish off a highly successful day for the club.
