Police have released details on Derrick Bird, as they try to piece together clues to reveal why he murdered 12 in a shooting rampage.
After being convicted of theft ten years ago, Bird made contact with police on several occasions.
In 2008 he reported criminal damage to his taxi. In 2007 he was the victim of assault. In 2002 he made a complaint of assault, which was withdrawn. In 1999 he reported taxi passengers ran off without payment, which was detected. In 1998 he reported theft from his taxi, which was undetected.
There is damage to the Citroen Picasso that Bird drove when the killings were underway. Police are appealing for anyone that may have witnessed, or been involved in, a collision with the vehicle on or before Wednesday 2nd June to contact us.
Weapons seized by police were lawfully held by Bird and officers are not looking for any further weapons at this time.
Forensic and ballistic investigations are continuing at crime scenes, at Bird's home and in his vehicle.
While officers continue to investigate these issues, police warn they may never fully understand what could have drive Bird to commit such atrocities.
Anyone with information about this incident should contact Cumbria Police on 0845 33 00 247.
