A PAMPERED chef night at the Riverside Hotel, Kendal, on Saturday, October 30, will conclude a family’s year of fundraising for their chosen charity.
Andrea King, her sister Hayley and brother in law Stephen have raised £4,000 for an epilepsy support group.
They did it in memory of Stephen’s brother Alister Wilson, who died from an epileptic seizure last October, aged 36.
The family has held fund-raisers at Kendal Rugby Club and Netherfield Cricket Club, while Andrea and Hayley also completed the Great North Run last month.
Now they hope a pampered chef evening will complete a successful year of sponsorship with extra funds also being raised for Cancer Research UK.
There will be cooking demonstrations and taste sessions while a catalogue will be available on the night to order cooking products – with a percentage of the costs going towards charity.
Several local businesses, including Agnes Rose at Dockray Hall, the Lake District Cheese company, Kendal College and New Moon have all donated prizes for a raffle which will be held during the evening.
Andrea said: “A close group of friends have been fundraising through the year in Alister’s memory, with his first anniversary on October 27 and we have been working hard to collect money.
“We would love to collect more than £5,000 in the first year and so far we have just over £4,000, which is now in the Epilepsy Sunflower Fund.”
l Tickets for the event cost £5 and doors open at 7.30pm. For tickets contact Andrea King, on 01539 737988, or Hayley on 01539 722437.
