TRAINS are now running on time after a lorry hit a railway bridge in Kendal.

Network Rail was contacted shortly after 1pm today by a lorry driver who said he had collided with the railway bridge on Sedbergh Road.

Engineers closed the bridge for 50 minutes, but reopened it after the collision was found to have only caused superficial damage.

A spokesman for Network Rail said: "Six train services were delayed for a total of 116 minutes, but all services are now runninng on schedule."
