EDEN councillor Tony Brunskill has been found in a Preston hotel after going missing from his home on Thursday.

Mr Brunskill was arrested last month on suspicion of rape and sexual activity with a teenage boy and is due to answer bail on Tuesday.

The 65-year-old councillor who represents Lazonby on Eden District Council, was reported missing from his home in North Dykes, Great Salkeld, near Penrith, at 8.29pm on Thursday.

Lancashire police found him in a hotel in Preston and he has now been taken to the Royal Preston Hospital.

Mr Brunskill, chairman of Great Salkeld Parish Council, is believed to have boarded a train at Penrith Rail Station heading to Preston at around 3:15pm on Thursday.

His car was found at the North Lakes Hotel car park in Penrith at around 9.30pm the same day.

Mr Brunskill was arrested in December and questioned by Cumbria Police at Carlisle on suspicion of rape and sexual activity with a teenage boy.
