ALASTAIR Dunn raced from the summit to the finish line of the Fairmile race in the Kendal Winter League in double-quick time, but it was not enough to stop Helm Hill teammate Mark Addison claiming his sixth straight series win.

The wind and rain theme to the series continued for the 2.5 mile race which saw 150 runners compete, and the result was the same as the previous five races with Addison finishing well clear of the chasing pack.

Mark’s cousin Tom was third behind 2010 BOFRA champ Dunn as Helm Hill filled the top three positions.

Mel Hyder returned for the Fairmile run and continued where she left off by storming around the horseshoe circuit on the western edge of the Howgills in 32.27, almost two minutes clear of Kendal’s Lou Roberts.

Wharfedale dominated the junior races with wins for Ben Johnstone (U17), Phil Done (U14) and Charlie Lowrie (U12).

This weekend sees the series move to Barbondale for one of the steepest out and back courses on the calendar.
