THE pilot of a light aircraft has been killed after his plane came down in Eden last night.
Emergency services were called to a site at Hartley, near Kirkby Stephen, at around 8pm following reports that a plane had crashed.
Police, paramedics, fire fighters and search and rescue volunteers responded. The male pilot of the plane was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokesman said: “At first sight it appears to have been a tragic accident.”
The crash is being investigated by the Air Accident Investigation Branch.
