VISITORS enjoyed the sun and a feast of colour at Arnside Horticultural Society’s 21st Annual Spring Show.

Around 160 people turned up to the WI Hall to peruse the display of daffodils and other spring flowers.

Arnside schoolchildren also produced a display of spring bulbs, art and craft work, and cookery to impress treasurer John Allen.

“The children put on a spectacular display this year,” he sdaid. “We give them daffodil bulbs, compost and pots and they plant them and bring them to the show once they’ve grown, which they like doing.

“We also displayed the work they’d done in their art classes and what they had done was excellent.”

Jackie Crewe, of the village Post Office, presented the prizes and among the winners were Phyllis Jackson, who had most points in show, and Irene Bashforth, who came first in the cookery category.
