TWO youngsters from Kendal showcased their acting talents when they took part in a prestigious television audition in Manchester.

Kirkbie Kendal School pupils Haydn Whitehead, 15, and Joshua Park, 16, ended up at CBBC auditions in Manchester at the new Media City UK They are both part of the Lakeside Film and TV Casting Agency run by Phil Mckay, who secured the auditions for lead roles in a new prime time CBBC drama called The Knot, to be filmed in the summer.

Phil had to decide who would be right for the parts Phil said: “We have so many actors wanting to get involved, but we only take on new talent who have a real passion for acting and are keen to work hard. Josh and Haydn have been attending the workshops now for over a year, “At the audition as nerves and excitement set in they were put into groups with actors from other agents who all had to improvise - we do a lot of improv-isation at the workshops - then some actors were asked to stay back and read a piece from the script.

“It is a very tough profession, the acting world, with so many actors all going for the same acting roles.

“I am now waiting to see if any of them have another call back or short listed to the next stage and this can take up to two or three weeks.

“But whatever happens now it was sure an amazing experience for these two young acting students.”
