A BRITAIN'S Got Talent star will be opening a new community playground in Ambleside this weekend alongside the PCSO who made it all happen.

The Kirkfield Playground Project - sponsored by local businesses and the Big Lottery fund - has now been completed and the new facility is due to be unveiled on Saturday by Kendal's Steven Hall.

The project came about after a local PCSO, Laura Jackson, formed an Ambleside community group which has managed to secure around £69,000 of funding for a new community playground.

Now, the natural playground which encourages imaginative play includes a stone castle, natural rock boulders, a small stage area and a spider made by an artist with designs from the children who live on the Kirkfield/Kirkstone estate.

The playground has been funded through the Community Spaces grant of the Big Lottery fund.

Mr Hall will perform a dance act with the local young people.
