A WINDERMERE pensioner is to sing in a massed choir in the Royal Albert Hall in London as a thankyou to the cancer charity that helped her husband.

Patricia Barnicott, 74, will join singers from across the country to perform at The Night of 1000 Voices, which will be hosted by Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville.

The star-studded event, on May 6, is in support of blood cancer charity Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Mrs Barnicott’s husband Andrew was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2011.

Because of his heart condition he wasn’t able to undergo the ordinary regimen of treatment, so instead the medication was specially tailored for him.

Mrs Barnicott said: “We are extremely grateful for everything the hospital and the oncology team has done and would like to give a big thank you to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research for all the wonderful work they do to help save the lives of people like Andrew.”

Stars who are confirmed to be taking part in the event from London’s West End include Ricardo Afonso, Daniel Boys, Kerry Ellis, Bonnie Langford and Peter Polycarpou.
