ACCLAIMED children’s author John Cunliffe visited the Kendal school where he once taught to open a new library for young bookworms.
The Postman Pat and Rosie and Jim creator dropped in at Castle Park School where he read stories and poetry to children and took part in a question-and-answer session.
Mr Cunliffe opened the school’s junior library in March 1992 and, 20 years on, made the trip back to do the honours for the new infant library, which staff have created in an empty classroom.
School administrator Janice Murray said: “The children were very excited to meet a real author and they enjoyed hearing his stories about the fact that a lot of the inspiration for Postman Pat came from Kendal.”
