SPAM sandwiches, rock buns and Victoria sponge were all on the menu for a 1950s Jubilee lunch at a south Lakeland school.

Despite the rain, pupils at Storth Primary School donned their red, white and blue outfits and enjoyed their inside street party.

Headteacher Alison Charlesworth said everybody had a ‘lovely’ day: “It was wet so we had to make the long tables inside, but we all still had a great time.

“We did lots of activities all related to the Jubilee, such as quizzes and for the lunch everyone brought something in - it was like a real community working together.”
