SONAR specialists Tritech hosted a visit to their new £5.5 million facility for Ulverston Business Alliance and revealed some of the innovative technologies which have made them a key supplier to subsea markets.
The new building provides facilities for product development and research, manufacturing and testing, along with essential maintenance and refurbishment of their high value units.
Those facilities include two huge water tanks and a new high-pressure test chamber to simulate the conditions on the ocean floor; all critical to ensure reliability in the harsh subsea environment in which Tritech equipment operates.
More than half of the company’s 100-strong workforce is based in Ulverston, with another office in Edinburgh focussing on design, and the company’s sales and customer support office based in Aberdeenshire.
Ulverston Business Alliance chair Suzanne Edgley said: “Everyone in Ulverston has watched with great interest the creation of the new building so it was fascinating to see what happens inside."
