The Mayor of Kendal, Coun Tom Clare, was taken ill on Tuesday morning last week just hours after a full town council when he had proposed that Kendal should become a dementia and age friendly town.
Early in the morning he suffered severe pain on breathing and when these returned in the late afternoon he was taken by ambulance to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
He was diagnosed with pneumonia and late on Friday last week he returned home, where treatment is being continued by antibiotics.
