KENDAL and Netherfield both looked back at a season of frustration in a difficult league and cup campaign.

In a season fraught with inconsistency, Netherfield missed out on a top four finish after they closed their campaign in fifth place while Kendal finished ninth in the table and were runners up in the 40 over cup final.

Netherfield weren’t helped by the early departure of Indian Professional Asutosh Singh who went home earlier than expected due to injury.

Netherfields most positive aspect of the season came in the National T20 Finals where they progressed into the final before losing to Barnt Green.

Missing out on a top four finish, however, is a blow for the club which means they won’t qualify for the National Knockout or Lancashire Cup Competitions. Although the most pleasing aspect for the club is the progression of their second team who finished fourth and won the Palace Shield T20 trophy, while young players have also been given their opportunity to play first team cricket.

The bragging rights between both Kendal and Netherfield saw Netherfield do the league double while Kendal claimed their solitary derby result in the 40 over cup quarter final win at their near neighbours.

Kendal managed to avoid relegation and made it to the final of the 40 Over Cup before losing to Longridge in the final. And their path to the final included results against all the strong teams where they defeated Garstang, Netherfield and Blackpool.

However, inconsistency thwarted Chris Millers team throughout the whole season where they would impress with wins against Fulwood & Broughton, Longridge and St Annes before losing games to teams such as Lancaster and Leyland.

Kendal's Indian professional Rongsen Jonathan had a stunning season scoring 1,049 runs in league and cup which included seven half centuries and two centuries, one of which came in the derby 40 Over Cup win against Netherfield.

Kuldeep Singh picked up the most wickets for the first team with 59 while Matthew Park ended up with 45 wickets.

However finding that consistency will be key for both teams who will be keen to improve and progress for the 2023 campaign.
